Life's curveballs have slowed my transcription of my late Oma's last travelogue about her 1976 Caribbean cruise, but once I dove in this past week I was rewarded immediately with her descriptive, observant, sweet prose.
Truth be told - and I may have said this before - cruiseships/lines to me are deplorable, but somehow the ships and planes of 1976 in their pre-Disney/Virgin existence, were far less offensive...even endearing, going by my Oma's descriptions. My grandmother was not a flashy woman, but loved people and these trips really seemed to satisfy her curiosity for other human beings.
So please enjoy her last travelogue, I hope it's worth the wait. This ship has sailed.
Fear not, it's not the last piece of work from my Oma. Peg and Murray also documented the relocation of a log house in the 1970s to their property in Millhaven, Ontario. So stay tuned for more about Milllinocket House.
